Frankenstein card

Halloween is almost here. Wow, where did this year go? I have never made a card for Halloween before, but I have a little nephew that likes to get things in the mail, so I thought I would make this for him. I got the idea from watching videos on YouTube when I came across a tutorial for a Frankenstein card. The tutorial was made by Dawn Griffith. Check out her videos here http://www.dawnsstampingthoughts.net/ for some great ideas. Her card was cuter than mine, but now that I've made one I might have to make some more. I'm really enjoying making cards lately. Eventually I'll have to get back to my scrapbook pages, but for now it's all about the cards. Enjoy Trick or Treating everyone.

More Christmas cards

Okay, so now I remember why I don't use glitter very often. It's MESSY. I have a book called 10 minute cards that I look through every now and then when I need some ideas. The red card on the left is almost exactly like one in my book. It's cute and super simple to make, but the more I looked at it the more I felt it needed something more. I added the green cardstock to the background after I ran it through the cuttlebug, I used a swirly textured white cardstock (hard to see in the picture) and  I popped the sentiment up with pop dots. Then came the glitter.... I ran my Christmas bulbs through the Xyron to put sticky on the top. Then it was just a matter of pouring the glitter on. This was the first time I've tried to add glitter to a cut using the Xyron and it was super easy. I love the affect and sparkle of the glitter, but now I have glitter all over my desk, my clothes and my hands. The things we do for creativity.

Birthday Cards with Scraps

Happy Saturday everyone. I'm having so much fun using my scraps. I had a lot of pieces of pink paper and these patterned green papers on my desk that were left over from the baby shower favors and decorations. Since the patterned paper had cherries on it I immediately looked to my Cricut cartridges for cherries to cut out. I found these very cute cherries on the Hello Kitty cartridge. I cuttlebugged the background paper and put everything together. The sentiment and the cherries are pop dotted so they would stand out. I really like these cards and they were so super easy.

More Christmas Cards

Hi everyone. I know I've been lagging on putting up new posts on my blog. I'm am trying to do better. I was just worn out after the Utah Swarm and I haven't had time to clean up my scraproom. I literally have to step over stuff on the floor to get to my desk (which is covered in scraps). Last night I decided I NEED to get in there and get something done. As I said, my desk is covered in scraps, so I was thinking I should try to use some of those scraps instead of piling them up forever. I did use a new piece of red cardstock from Paper Trey Ink for the base of the cards, but the other pieces were found in my scrap pile. I used the cuttlebug for the Divine Swirls embossing. For the greetings I stamped them on some scrap white cardstock and then added some stickles. Tomorrow my hubby will be busy golfing so I will hopefully get some more cards made with scraps and get them posted. Stay tuned to see what I come up with. Happy Crafting everyone.

Christmas card

Trying to get started on my Christmas cards. I don't think this one will make the cut, but it's a start. I used the Creative Memories Cheerful Seasons cartridge for the holly.  The sentiment is hard to read in the picture, but it says Merry Christmas.

I met the Cricut!

I had so much fun at the Utah Swarm. I was finally able to meet the bug and have my picture taken with him. I was so excited. Provo Craft did a great job on the Swarm. I will definitely go to the next one that's close enough for me. Everyone was so friendly.

Cricut Circle Swarm In Utah

Yay, it's finally here. The Cricut Circle Swarm in Utah. A couple of girls from the Circle Message Board came up with a great idea of adding a layout or sign or something to our hotel room doors so that everyone can see our excitement for the weekend. This is a picture of the layout I did. I made the Circle Logo with my Gypsy. The paper dolls represent me and my sister. They were made at 5" from the Everyday Paper Dolls cartridge. The font is from the new Creative Memories Cheerful Seasons cartridge. I am so excited that I am able to go to Utah for the swarm and to spend a couple of days with my nieces. They have no idea we will be flying in to surprise them. I will post pictures from the swarm when I get back home. Have a great weekend everyone.

Halloween tags

Happy Thursday everyone. 2 more days until the Swarm. I can hardly wait, but I still have a lot to do to get ready. I finally got my Halloween tags finished so I'm feeling a little more prepared.I started my tags by cutting some off white cardstock and distressing it with Tim Holtz Weathered Wood Dristress Ink.

Then I added the Tim Holtz Walnut Stain Distress Ink to add more depth and character.

I really like the way the tags came out after distressing. The tags are like snowflakes, no two are exactly alike.

I cut the moon from Paper Doll Dress Up and  used the distress ink to give them more depth.

Next I tore a piece of brown cardstock and distressed it before adhereing to the tag.

After adding a bat cut from Paper Doll Dress Up, some ribbon and a rubber stamp sentiment my tags were complete. I don't have any of the new Halloween cartridges from Provo Craft yet, but had fun using what I do have. Hope you enjoy.

Halloween Treats

Happy Monday. I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. Now that the baby shower is over I'm getting ready for the next thing on my list. These are Halloween treats that I made using the Creative Memories Cheerful Seasons cartridge. I really like this pumpkin, but I wouldn't try to cut it any smaller than 2" because of the swirley stem. The Trick or Treat is a clear stamp I pulled out of my drawer. I chose Jelly Belly Jelly Beans as my candy for these treats because the Jelly Belly factory is in the same city where I live. I was trying to think of something that would represent where I'm from. Besides, who doesn't like jelly beans? :-)

Baby Clothesline

Well, I ran out of time and was not able to finish the banner for the baby shower, but I did get the clothesline up on the wall. If I had more time I think it would have looked really cute if I put the baby's name above the clothes with vinyl really big. As soon as I get more vinyl I will be cutting out lots of wall art for her nursery.

Vinyl Mirror

It's Baby Shower Day!Our living room has been transformed into a temporary nursery. It's going to look so empty after the party, when all of the baby stuff has been moved to the home of Mom and Dad to be.

Todays project was applying the baby's name to the living room mirror with pink and white vinyl. I love the way it turned out with the dark frame of the mirror and the dark wood of the crib and dresser.

For this project I used the Gypsy Font. I often forget I have this font because I don't have a book for it, but I really do like the look of it. It also welds very well. I hope everyone is having a great weekend. I will be back tomorrow with another baby shower post. Stay tuned. Cindy

Baby Shower this weekend

My son and his wife are expecting their first baby in December. We will be having the baby shower tomorrow and I can hardly wait. It's going to be so much fun. I haven't been able to post anything in the last couple of days because I've been getting ready for the party, but hopefully on Sunday I will have some time to get some new stuff up on the blog. In the mean time I wanted to share a few pictures. This first picture is of my son and his wonderful wife. The mommy of my first grandbaby. This second picture is of my husband and I when we were about the same age. Before having our 2 awesome sons.

This last picture is one of me and my son dancing at his wedding. I'm so proud of him. He has grown into a really great guy. I know he will make the best Dad ever.

Blessed are the children of scrapbookers, for they shall inherit the scrapbooks.
