I'm Back

Boy, it has been crazy busy for me lately. Work has been busy and I've been putting in extra hours. In the middle of that I had to squeeze in a week off to drive to Utah for my niece's high school graduation. That was a lot of fun and I'm really glad hubby and I could go. We also took my mom, sister and nephew with us.

When we got back from Utah we had two days with the contractor fixing the holes he made in our house to hunt down a water leak. Hopefully the leak he found was the only leak. Now our house is put back together, but for some crazy reason I decided the living room needed to be spruced up. That means I made a trip to the hardware store and bought paint. I thought one gallon would be enough because I was only doing 3 walls and two of them have windows. Well, two and a half gallons and two days later my living room is painted. I don't have any pictures to share of the room because it's still a disaster, but as soon as I get the furniture back in place and the pictures back on the wall I'll snap some pictures.

Today I thought I would share a picture of my niece that graduated and her mom and another one of the table decorations I made.

Here is the lollipop center piece I made. I had no idea how many suckers it would take! That thing is heavy!

Almost forgot, we also made her a money lei (is that how you spell it?).  We had a lot of fun in Utah, but I'm happy to be home and able to sleep in my own bed.

I love Pinterest!

There you go. I said it. I LOVE Pinterest. I log in almost every day to see what's new. I've done some exercises I found on the site. I've cooked some food and I've made some crafts that I found on there. I've pinned things I want to do to my house and things I want to do to my yard. I've also pinned my favorite animals and some cute clothes.

I have 2 nieces and 1 nephew that will be graduating from highschool this year. So where did I go for gift and decoration ideas? Pinterest of course. My first simple but cute project was originally found on the www.splitcoaststampers.com website. I used some paper scraps, brads and Hershey's Nuggets.

My nieces school colors are blue and gold so those are the colors I used. I made a few of them and will put them on a table in a heart shaped candy dish.

After finishing the candies I also made a banner. I didn't see this on Pinterest. I'm sure if I had looked I could have gotten some banner ideas that are cuter, but I wanted to keep it simple. I made rosettes, layered some scrap paper on top of them with a money print and then added my nieces name. I cut out the letters with the Winter Woodland cartridge.

And the last picture I have to share today is of my little helper.

I'm still working on a few other things. As soon as I have them done I will post some pictures. I ran into a little snag with one of them. I need to pick up some more lollipops before I can finish it.

Catch ya later,
Cindy

New and Improved Scrapbook Room

My room is finally put back together (for the most part). I still can't put anything in my closet because the builder has to come back and fix the hole in the wall, but my workspace is up and running.

Before Picture:

After Picture:

I painted the walls a creamy color to brighten things up and then I got started putting things the way I wanted them. I used my Jetmax cubes to form the base of my desk. In the before shot you can see that I had some of the cubes at the end of my desk, but I had a bookshelf in the front. I like the cubes alot better because they provide more storage.

To the right of my desk I have four more cubes with a top on them to provide another desk/working area. In these drawers I keep my most used items, such as pens, adhesives, stamp blocks and white cardstock. On top I keep my Copic markers, stamp pads and occasionally my cat.

On top of my main work space I have a shelf (I think it was made for shoes) that holds my Cricut Imagine machine. Below that I have a plastic container that holds projects in process, my paper cutter and Creative Memories picture trimmer. I also have my Gypsy on my desk at all times. I don't think I could use my Imagine without it.

That's it. That's my room. I didn't make any huge changes, but things are a little neater and more organized now. I also found that I have 2 or 3 containers of items that I need to sell. Now if I can just find the time to put everything on Ebay....

Have a wonderful day. I'm going to spend some time in my room now.

Update On My Scraproom

What was I thinking? You know the saying "your eyes are bigger than your stomach," when you order more food than you can possibly eat? I think something like that happened when I got the bright idea to clear out my scrapbook room and redecorate it. I should have known better when I started taking things out of the closet (see my last post for that picture).

Well, it only got worse. In addition to my living room being full of scrap supplies my kitchen table and family room floor are now both buried as well.

The good news is that I was able to fill in all the holes and put a fresh coat of paint on the walls. In the picture below you can see the "before" color which was a sage green and the "after" color which is a pretty cream color with a hint of yellow.

I didn't realize the green was so dark until I started painting the new color. The spots of cream that you see in the picture are where there were nail holes that I filled. Yes, there were a lot.

This is a picture of the room once I was done painting. I was able to leave the big pieces of furniture in the room and paint around them. You can see my desk and my paper stands.

It's a lot of work, but I'm glad I was able to paint. Hopefully I will be able to organize things a little better and have a better workspace when this is all done. I'll keep you updated as things progress.
