Canvas Project

I attempted my first canvas project. Yikes! It was a lot harder than I thought it would be. I'm sure I was doing something wrong, so if I ever attempt this again I will go to YouTube for some instructional videos first. Lol.

I first painted the canvas with white paint and then added the letters that I cut out of vinyl from Cricut Explore machine. The vinyl DID NOT want to stick. I thought it was just the cheap stuff I was using so I used some better vinyl, but it didn't want to stick either. It took me more time trying to stick those letters down than it did for the whole project.

I probably should have left it at that, but it wasn't what I wanted for the end result, so I forged ahead. I added two coats of black paint and a few touches of the white to create a chalkboard affect. It looks better in person, but there was one area where the vinyl pulled up a little.

Vinyl Project

A little break from Minnie Mouse. Over the weekend (yes, it took a weekend) my daughter in law and I worked on a vinyl project for her and my son's room. It's a quote she found on Pinterest.

Although it took a long time to decide on the fonts (Plantin Schoolbook and Quarternote) and the sizes (4" & 5" respectively) it was worth it. I love the way it turned out.

Concentration Layout - NSD #7

I love this picture of Khloë at gymnastics class. She was concentrating so hard on that balancing beam. I chose this picture to make a layout for the National Scrapbook Day challenge on the Cricut Circle message board and on the blog of Sara, which can be seen here. The challenge is to have a big picture or title on a project. I printed my picture at 8 1/2 x 11".

For this layout I used Plantin Schoolbook for the title, cut at 1.75". The large flowery cuts are from Sophie and were cut at 4 and 4.5". The smaller flower on top was cut using Stampin Up punches and a pearl brad. The butterflies and the pieces at the top right corner were also cut with Stampin Up punches.

One Sheet Wonder - NSD Project #6

Today's project was made using a single sheet of 12x12 cardstock for the album. I cut the cardstock in 3  strips measuring 4" wide and 12" long. I scored them every 4" and glued end to end.

I kept the book pretty simple because I will be giving it to Khloë who will probably try pulling all the pieces off before the day is over.

I wanted it to have colors and numbers so Khloë can practice.

Khloë's favorite part of the book was the one with the 8 suns. She liked all the faces and made them herself as she said 'happy', 'sad', 'angry', 'wink wink'.

My Life Monday - Project Life wk 2

What a week it was. It all started off with my birthday on Monday. My younger son took me and my husband out to dinner to celebrate and also bought me a big piece of cake. (not the best week for trying to lose weight). It was super sweet and we had a good time at dinner.

I wanted my title card to reflect my birthday week so I chose Birthday Bash for the funny bird. I then used Art Philosophy for the font, a strip of washi tape and a little stamping.

The week was extremely cold and my space heater in my scraproom got a work-out. Evidently I'm not the only one that enjoys it though. Everytime I plug it in I find Olivia laying in front of it.

I added the picture of my desk at work because it was such a crazy, stressful day at work. Our computer guy came in because the computers were doing weird things. At first he thought our computers were hacked and that it started with my computer. Luckily it was just a virus and it DIDN'T start with my computer. He got us back up and running before the work day was over.

This week I got my first ever flu shot. It's been all over the news that the flu has hit epidemic proportions and that everyone should get the shot if they are able to find one. I guess California is one of only 3 states where the flu hasn't peaked yet and a lot of places have run out of the vaccine.

The rest of the week included getting my hair done and football all weekend. (Go 49ers!) The very last picture is of my sweet hubby washing our vehicles. I'm so glad he washes them because it's too cold for me.

Well, that's my life for the week. The next couple of weeks are going to be busy so it might be tough to keep myself on schedule, but I'm going to try. I may not get any layouts done though.

Poker Players Birthday Card

Another year gone by. It goes way too fast. It seems like just last month we were celebrating Christopher's 18th birthday and now he's already 19. For this card I used Plantin Schoolbook.

Happy Birthday Ace

Well, my youngest son just turned 19. Wow, where does the time go? Not only did he turn 19, but next week my other son will turn 22. My babies are all grown up. Christopher likes to play poker (actually any kind of cards), so I had to make him a poker themed card. I used Plantin Schoolbook for the A's and for the hearts. Very quick card, but I like the way it came out.

Baby Shower Layout

 

What a fun day. Little kids and babies are always entertaining. These pictures were taken during my sisters baby shower for her 4th and last baby. She has 3 girls and will now have a boy to add to the bunch. For this layout I used Alphalicious for the title, Plantin Schoolbook for the large brackets and an EK Success border punch for the green scallop.

Partners in Crime

Yay, another scrapbook page done. These are pictures of Olivia and Starlet. They love eachother and are always together whether they're playing, pouncing, getting into the dishwasher or wrestling with their arms around eachother. They're very intertaining to watch. For this layout I used Plantin Schoolbook for P.I.C. (partners in crime). The swirls and stitching are rub-ons.

Happy Thursday everyone! I am so far behind that I'm going to post a few things today. My Uncle was not feeling well recently and I had been wanting to make a get well card like this for a long time. I think the bed and everything came out really cute. All cuts are from EDPD except the lettering. The doll and the pillow are cut at 4" and the bed is cut at 5". The font is Plantin Schoolbook cut at 1"

Too sweet

Another card. Not sure when I'll get back to scrapbooking. I'm having way too much fun with cards right now. this one was made using the sucker from PDDU cut at 6 1/2", the blast back drop from Plantin SB cut at 3" and the lettering is from Teardrop at 1".

It's a little hard to see the "t" at the end of sweet in this picture. After I took this I moved the ribbon a little higher out of the way.

How the "Whoot" are you?

This is just a fun little card to say "hi". I used Pooh & Friends cart. Owl is cut at 4", the tree branch was cut at 5" and the beehive was cut off. The letters are Plantin SB cut at 1".

Back to School

This isn't the best picture, but you get the idea. I made this card for my husbands God-Daughter. She just went off to college and we wanted to wish her the best of luck and lots of fun. The font is Plantin Schoolbook.
