Wedding Banner

Isn't love sweet? My sister was married on Saturday in an outdoor ceremony. It was so beautiful. The weather was perfect, the company was perfect and the wedding was perfect.

I made a few banners for the occasion and totally forgot to take pictures of them. Luckily my sister had an amazing photographer and she got some of the banners in her pictures. Her name is Amanda Hobbs and her facebook page can be found here -> AmandaHobbsPhotography. She took some of the most beautiful pictures at the wedding. If you happen to live around the Oroville, Chico, Yuba City area and need a photographer you should definitely look her up.  Here is one of the pictures she took.

Now I'm embarrassed to show you a picture I took, but here goes. This picture was taken at the house real quick with my phone before I put it in the mail to my sister. Yep, that's my excuse for the poor quality. Lol. You probably can't even read it, but it says - Happily Ever After. It was hanging behind the bride and groom dinner table.

This little bitty banner was on the sign-in table.

I also made the Thank You hearts with my Explore machine.

Wedding Banner

My sister is getting married in May and I wanted to make a few things for her. I still need to make some banners for the food and sweets tables, place settings and things like that. Her colors are gray, white and yellow.

This banner says Mr. & Mrs. and will probably hang from their table after the wedding. I know I keep saying how much I love the Explore, but I really do. The yellow patterned paper on the banner is a thin paper from Bazzill. I usually have a hard time cutting this type of paper on my other Cricut machine because it's so thin, but the Explore had no problem at all.

The back layer is a solid cardstock from Stampin' Up and the yellow letters are cut from Close to my Heart cardstock. The white scallops are Bazzill paper I ordered in bulk from HSN and then embossed with my Cuttlebug and the Swirls embossing folder.

Banner for Bentley

A new baby on his way and a new banner for mommy's shower. This one just popped in my head today and I felt compelled to make it. I hope she likes it.

I used the Close to My Heart Artiste cartridge for the mustaches and ties. The ties were cut at 11" and the mustaches were cut at 1.75" on my Expression machine. the letters and shadows were cut from the Nate's ABC's cartridge at 1.75". I used fishing line to hang them from the red ribbon.

Paint and Trim

Happy Hump Day! I have just a little update on how I spent my Labor Day... doing manual labor! Husband and I headed out to Home Depot bright and early to get trim and paint for Khloë's room at our house. I had already painted it pink, but wanted to add some green in the mix. Here's a "before" picture.

It was cute with a soft pink and her name in vinyl. Just a little too plain for my taste. I love crown molding, but wanted to do something a little different. Here's a picture after we got the trim on the wall.

Next I painted above the trim and the ceiling a light green.

And the last picture I have for the day is after I put the banner up I made for Khloë. I still have some decorating to do, but until I find some pictures I like it will stay like this. I also have to hang her curtains back up.

The colors in this last picture are really muted. I guess the sun had already passed over the house by the time I got done. The third picture is the closest to the real color. I hope she likes it when she sees it.

Anyone having a party?

Do you need labels for the food you'll be serving at your next party? How about these super cute banners? I'm still making teal and lavender versions of everything with gray chevron print thrown in. Any guesses on which banner will be used for the baby shower? Sometimes I think boy and sometimes I think girl, so basically I have no idea what the grand-baby will be.

Here's my first one with lavender, that says pulled pork. At my nieces graduation party a week ago one of the food items was a crock pot full of pulled pork. There were soft rolls and all the fixin's on the side. It was so good and such a great idea for a family party that I think we just might be having that for the baby shower.

Here is the teal version that says cupcakes. What would a party be without cupcakes, right?

So time will tell which color gets used and we will all be happy either way. We find out this Friday, but our only concern is for a healthy baby (and then cupcakes!) LOL.

For the banners I used the Stampin' Up Hearts a Flutter stamps and framelits. For the letters I used the Close to my Heart Glamour alphabet. I also used a scallop circle punch from Stampin' Up. These banners were a lot of fun to make and I loved that I used so many of my small scraps.

Welcome Banner

Time for another banner. You can't have a housewarming party without a Welcome banner can you? This one was super easy and went together very quickly.

For the penants I used the Birthday Bash cartridge and cut out both pieces of the base at 5". The bottom scallop was cut from craft colored cardstock and the top layer was cut using white cardstock. I then stamped some flourishes on top of the white so that it wasn't so plain.

The letters were cut at 2" from the same Birthday Bash cartridge. I then strung the pieces together using white and blue tulle.

After stringing each of the penants together I added small keys between each of them.

The housewarming party for my son and daughter-in-law turned out very nice. We had a lot of fun with family and friends celebrating this huge milestone.

Birthday Banner

Todays project is for my niece that will be turning 14 this weekend. I started out making rosettes in her chosen colors of pink and black. I think I made 13 of them. I'm not sure why I made all of the rosettes before I made the other banner pieces. 13 rosettes later and I realize they are not the size I need for my banner. I used Ribbons and Rosettes for the Rosettes.

I cut out the pennants and letters and glued everything together minus the rosettes. I felt guilty for not using the rosettes after all of the hard work and paper that went into them so I used one at each end of the banners and then a grouping of 3 behind the word 'Birthday'.

Here is a close up of the middle section:

For the font I used the Gypsy Font that comes pre-loaded on the Gypsy. I used a Spellbinders die for the scallop circles behind the letters. The pennant pieces for the banner were cut from Birthday Bash. I can't remember which cartridge I used to cut 'Birthday' so I'll have to come back and post that later. I think the scalloped half circle under 'Birthday' was cut using Art Philosophy, but I did have to resize it so that it would be longer and not as tall.

I love Pinterest!

There you go. I said it. I LOVE Pinterest. I log in almost every day to see what's new. I've done some exercises I found on the site. I've cooked some food and I've made some crafts that I found on there. I've pinned things I want to do to my house and things I want to do to my yard. I've also pinned my favorite animals and some cute clothes.

I have 2 nieces and 1 nephew that will be graduating from highschool this year. So where did I go for gift and decoration ideas? Pinterest of course. My first simple but cute project was originally found on the www.splitcoaststampers.com website. I used some paper scraps, brads and Hershey's Nuggets.

My nieces school colors are blue and gold so those are the colors I used. I made a few of them and will put them on a table in a heart shaped candy dish.

After finishing the candies I also made a banner. I didn't see this on Pinterest. I'm sure if I had looked I could have gotten some banner ideas that are cuter, but I wanted to keep it simple. I made rosettes, layered some scrap paper on top of them with a money print and then added my nieces name. I cut out the letters with the Winter Woodland cartridge.

And the last picture I have to share today is of my little helper.

I'm still working on a few other things. As soon as I have them done I will post some pictures. I ran into a little snag with one of them. I need to pick up some more lollipops before I can finish it.

Catch ya later,
Cindy

Close To My Heart Banner I made

Ooops! I did it again. I fell in love again with another project from the Close to my Heart catalog. This time it was the banner. I think it is beautiful. The truth is I love the everything about the picture in the catalog. The little girls room in the background, the colors on the wall, the white dresser, everything. I would love to duplicate the entire room for my little Khloë.

I already painted the bedroom pink. Now I'm thinking of adding a chair-rail like the one in this picture. I also have some white shelves to put up on the walls. When I saw this banner I knew I wanted to make it to hang in her room. Again I had no idea what measurements and I didn't have any of the CTMH papers so I used papers from my stash. Yay me!
Here is my version.

I cut the banner pieces at 6.25" from the Art Philosophy cartridge. The letters were cut at 2.25" and also from the Art Philosophy cartridge. The rosettes behind the letters were made using one of the boarder cuts at 1.5".  After I got everything cut out and put together I added a little ribbon and I was done.
Have a wonderful weekend scrappy friends. Hopefully I'll have some time in my scraproom so I can finish up another Close to my Heart scrap-lift.

Birthday Banner

I just have to say 'I LOVE MY CRICUT!' Before having my Cricut I would have never been able to make such pretty personalized things. I'll admit that I spend a lot of money on my Cricut habit, but it also saves me a lot of money. Take for example this banner. If I wanted a birthday banner before having my Cricut I would have bought one. It would have cost me more money and it wouldn't have looked as nice. It also wouldn't be personalized with Khloë's name or have the perfect pink color and her favorite penguins.

I still need to add some more tulle and make it a little fluffier (LOL), but you get the idea. This was my very first time making rosettes too. I think I'm hooked. It was so fun. I want  to add rosettes to everything now.

For the font I used the Monogram setting on the Gypsy Font. I really like the swirly cut-outs in the letters so that you can see the background color. The scallop triangle banners were cut using Birthday Bash. After cutting the pink triangle pieces I ran them through my cuttlebug and embossed them with dots.

Khloë likes penguins and they are the theme for her birthday. I found the cute little penguin for her banner on the Create a Critter cartridge. One of my favorite cartridges. There's a critter for every occasion.

Next I'll be making some party favors, but first I need to make a trip to the Jelly Belly Factory for some pink, black and white jelly beans. Have a great weekend everyone. Cindy
